Gerold Hölzl works since August 2015 as Assistant Professor at EISLAB. Before joining EISLAB, he was working as Scientific Assistant at the Institute for Pervasive Computing at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. He finished his PhD in Computer Science (Dr. techn.) 2015 with highest distinction at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. He also holds a Master (Dipl.-Ing) from the Johannes Kepler University with the topics of Computer Science and Pervasive Computing, which was also awarded with highest distinction.

Gerold conducted research at both the basic- and the applied research level and was involved in various national and international research projects like OPPORTUNITY, PowerSaver, and PowerIT. He has authored more than 20 peer reviewed publications.

Gerold's current research interests include Embedded Intelligence & Pervasive Computing, Activity and Context Recognition Systems, Machine Learning & Pattern Classification, Sensor Networks, Mobile Computing, Applications & Services, as well as Distributed and Autonomic Computing.

Besides his research Gerold is an enthusiastic hobby runner and biker, is interested in politics and economy and enjoys nature, design, and good food & wine. You can find more detailed information in his current Curriculum Vitae.

Currently Gerold is on leave and is heading the chair for computer engineering. Theses are still supervised at EISLAB.
